“Feel Good Exactly As You Are” by Aisling Vesque Yoga 'PureLight'

Hello everyone my name is Aisling and I am a yoga teacher at PureLight Dance and Yoga studio. I am absolutely delighted to be a part of the team here and really looking forward to meeting all of you wonderful people.


When I was asked to write a blog for the website I knew exactly what I wanted my first blog to be about.

So often we see advertisements, we hear comments from others or even from ourselves on how we can be better, how we can look better or do better. It’s exhausting! Instead of always looking for ways to “improve” ourselves why can’t we just love ourselves and feel good exactly as we are. Now don’t get me wrong, it is great to have goals and things to work towards, but instead of only focusing on our goals lets learn to enjoy the journey there.


This is something I see so often in my students when I teach yoga, and something I see in myself sometimes. On the mat it’s so easy to look around you and compare yourself to others instead of taking that time to listen to your own body and do what feels good for you. Comparing ourselves to others or even to how we used to be can make us feel insignificant, not good enough and can even cause injury if we force our bodies to do something they are not ready for. Instead of having these expectations on ourselves “to be better” again I would say enjoy the journey of life, of your practice and most of all, enjoy being you. It’s in the journey on our mat and off that we really learn who we are and love and except ourselves and feel happy about ourselves.

I would like to share with you some of the ways that I have learned to enjoy life a little bit more and to feel good as I am in this moment in the hope that some of these tips will resonate with you and help you love yourself the way you deserve to be loved. After all, we are all perfect just as we are!



Take some time each day to look around you and notice all of the beautiful things.


These things can be simple like acknowledging the color of the sky, a flower you see on a walk, a person doing something kind for someone else or even a dog walking down the street. Anything that gives you a warm feeling take the time to soak that feeling up. Changing your mindset from only seeing the negative to even highlighting a few positive things can make such a difference in your mood and overall how you feel.

Do something for you!


Whenever I feel a bit down I take some time to do something that makes me feel good.  I might take a yoga class, walk my dog or cook something delicious. It’s important to find some balance in your life and always take some time to do what you enjoy


Be a kind human being.


I really think it’s true “your vibe attracts your tribe”. If you are kind to others it shifts the energy around you and attracts that similar positive energy. Externally and internally.


Know you are not the same as anyone else. You are unique.


Instead of comparing yourself to anyone else know that there is only one you and that is pretty cool!


You are perfect exactly the way you are.


You are where you are meant to be, you are perfect in every moment.



As I said before we all have things we want to change, but instead of thinking change will make us happy learn to be happy in the skin you are in now. Learn to Feel good exactly as you are! On and off your yoga mat!
